Palim 0.2.5-beta.2 makes bringing existing writing projects into Palim safer and easier. Planning documents, market research, and story bibles are less likely to be mistaken for primary text during import. After import, documents can be moved directly between Primary Text and Project Materials from the Binder, with immediate drag feedback and without a layout-shifting confirmation card.

Imported PDFs now open in a faithful, read-only view of the original pages. A separate AI-readable text view preserves page boundaries and detected tables, and Palim verifies that every extractable text item is accounted for before making that text available to AI. Scanned pages that still require OCR are identified instead of being presented as complete. The imported PDF remains unchanged; requested revisions can become editable project material or a newly generated PDF.

Developer-mode connections to DeepSeek and other OpenAI-compatible services are easier to configure. Palim accepts a service root or a pasted models or chat-completions URL, normalizes it to one service address, discovers available models, and explains authentication, rate-limit, server, and non-JSON response failures without exposing raw provider payloads.

The editor now preserves the author's cursor and scroll position when a background refresh replaces the current document. Binder selection actions remain readable on the active row, and document moves show the item, target, and settling motion directly in the file tree.

Palim's local workspace remains usable without an account or AI service. Palim AI is not available for purchase. This public Beta is ad-hoc signed rather than Apple-notarized, so macOS may show Gatekeeper or quarantine prompts. Keep independent backups of important projects.
